Missouri has one aquaculture producers organization, the Missouri Aquaculture Association (MoAA). Originally organized as the Missouri Fish Farmers Association (MFFA) in 1963, members voted for the change during the 1996 business meeting. The change was established to broaden the interests of the group and to unite all segments of the industry under one body. The stated mission of MoAA is to promote the success of aquaculture in Missouri. The Association serves the common interest of its members as a unified voice to represent and actively promote the causes and issues which affect the industry and its members. The Association is committed to improving the quantity, quality, and efficiency of aquaculture production in an environmentally responsible manner with maximum opportunity for profitability in all sectors of the industry.
The Missouri Aquaculture Association is open to all individuals and firms with an interest in aquaculture. Some benefits of membership are: - Contact with Missouri producers and others in the industry - Notice of important meetings and workshops which will allow you to stay current on production methods and regulatory changes - Discounted admission to state and national meetings - Email notices of items (equipment, fish, property, etc.) wanted or for sale - Subscription to the MoAA newsletter (electronic and/or printed) - Automatic membership in the National Aquaculture Association (NAA) which includes a newsletter focused on national issues - A business listing on this website - A business listing in the printed MoAA Directory
Membership in MoAA strengthens the industry and gives producers a voice in the future of aquaculture in Missouri. |
